Over 400,000 square feet of new retail space is planned for the Station Area. Retail opportunities for big-box, mid-box and local retailers are all part of this project.

Two floors, comprising up to 200,000 square feet of big-box retail are planned as part of the wholesale mart. The Mart will also have an additional 50,000 square feet of opportunities for local retailers.

The hotel mixed-use development will include up to 70,000 square feet of mid-box and local retail, combined with as many as 375 new residential units.

A planned 500,000 square-foot office tower will also include 70,000 square feet of street level retail space.

The east side of the Sutphin Underpass will be transformed into a 5,500 square-foot retail arcade with high design storefronts and state of the art lighting.

These retail spaces will build on the tremendous vitality of the retail market that already exists in Downtown Jamaica, and add to it the airport access provided by AirTrain. While small retailers are numerous and successful in Downtown Jamaica, the area is ripe for larger national retail brands. New retailers will benefit not only from airport access, but also from users of the Long Island Rail Road and the three subway lines and dozens of bus routes that serve Jamaica. Scores of thousands of people come to the Station Area every day to transfer from one form of transportation to another, making for a level of foot traffic unrivaled in the region.
